Paul Risi started fishing as a young boy on Long Island's South Shore. He quickly developed a love of the sport, and left college as a teenager to fish as a profession.  He has spent time in various aspects of commercial fishing, but the bulk of his work has been accumulated in the for-hire industry in New York state, running mostly larger (65' and up) boats in bays and oceans in pursuit of all types of local species. He has also fished boats from New Hampshire to the Florida Keys, which has helped him develop adaptive skills in today's ever-changing world of fishing.  Aside from fishing, Paul has operated passenger ferries and whale watch and research vessels in Massachusetts, and has been active in fisheries management at the state and federal levels, serving on various councils and advisory bodies over the years.  Working on the Rocket since 2010, Paul enjoys the challenges offered by fishing in the waters of New York City, and uses them to keep his skills honed.
